Netflix’s First MMA Fight
Netflix has officially announced its first-ever live professional MMA event, headlined by a "superfight" between two of the sport's greatest pioneers: Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano. Set for May 16, 2026, at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, the event marks a massive homecoming for both fighters, who have been out of the cage for nearly a decade.
Promoted in partnership with Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), the bout will be contested at 145 pounds under the Unified Rules of MMA. The internet exploded over the news, not just because of the legendary names involved, but because Netflix is continuing its aggressive takeover of live sports after its record-breaking boxing and NFL broadcasts.

Reasoning: We ranked this at #4 because it represents a "legacy shift" in sports broadcasting. The combination of Rousey’s return and Netflix’s massive platform turned a simple fight announcement into a global cultural moment, sparking thousands of debates about "spectacle" vs. "sport."
