Mrwhosetheboss Thinks Apple's $2,000 Foldable iPhone Needs To Get Its Apps Together

Apple's first foldable iPhone is finally here, but the early reviews are already giving people reasons to think twice before dropping $2,000 on it. Tech YouTuber Mrwhosetheboss, also known as Arun Maini, has criticised the iPhone Duo's app experience, arguing that the software doesn't fully justify its premium price.

His biggest frustration is that plenty of third-party apps haven't been properly optimised for the foldable display. While Apple's own software takes advantage of the larger screen, some apps still feel like they're running on a regular phone rather than a device designed to unfold into something closer to a mini tablet. “For a $2,000 phone, I expected a significantly better day one app experience,” he explained.

And the app situation isn't the only compromise. Maini also pointed to the lack of a dedicated telephoto camera, the replacement of Face ID with a fingerprint sensor, and concerns around charging and performance under sustained stress. He did praise features including the display, multitasking capabilities, and battery life, but questioned whether the overall package was worth the asking price for most buyers.

The awkward part for Apple is that this is its big debut in the foldable phone market, where people are paying a premium for a new way to use their device. The hardware might look impressive, but if your favourite apps aren't ready for it, that $2,000 price tag starts feeling VERY personal. The foldable future is here, but the apps apparently didn't get the memo.
